Leigh at work

My sister, Leigh, has worked from a Bi-Lo grocery store cashier all the way to a store manager. I have never been able to go to where she works until this weekend. I got to go with her, so she could check the temperatures in the freezers. I am very proud of her hard work.

North Carolina Christmas

I just got back to Knoxville from two great days in Asheville, NC. I got to spend Christmas with Leigh, Michael, Kelsey, Harrison, and Hunter. It was great being with family this year. It was my first Christmas off from work in four years. I was the first one up on Christmas morning and had to force everyone else to get up. The Youngbloods like to sleep in. Leigh and Kelsey prepared some delicious food. Harrison and I went to church (Gladis Knight was supposed to be there, but she was a no show). I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Josh's Texas Vacation

I just got home from 8 days in Texas. I had such a good time. It was great to be able to spend time with Dad and Mom. I enjoyed going to Corpus Christi and spending a couple of days with Amber and her family. It was also fun to spend the evening with Abby and Chris. Plus, you can't have a successful trip to Texas without eating at Whataburger (I ate 2) and eating at Panchos. I love my family so much!

My job is so HARD

The holidays are no fun when you have to work, but in TV sometimes you get to do something fun. Today my Thanksgiving story was about what you can do after you eat . . . one was movies and the other was bowling. It was $1 night at S.S. Fountain Bowling in Knoxville. I played a whole game . . . I was the only customer there.

Employee of the Week

I did it again . . . Employee of the Week, but this time it is much better. During SWEEPS (the time when we try to get big rating for big advertising dollars), if you get EOTW you get the parking spot, but you also get $100.

This is the e-mail my news director sent out:

Josh was nominated for his hard work and good attitude.

Here’s what a couple of you wrote about Josh:

“He turned more than one story multiple days last week, and generally has a great attitude. He’s always willing to help if he’s able and certainly has some creative ideas.”

“Gotta be Josh Ault- Both for his amazing Sweeps piece getting WATE some national attention and for busting his butt over the weekend to help our photogs.”

Blog EXCLUSIVE - New TV!

I am going to try to break up my Facebook - Blog problem of posting the same stuff on both. I will try to do some BLOG EXCLUSIVES every few weeks, so you will want to look at my blog.

So for my very first exclusive, I want to introduce my new 42 inch plasma TV. I had co-worker who got a new job, to they needed to get rid of all their stuff. I was lucky to get this TV (and stand) for a very low cost. I have wanted a new TV for a long time (I have had a very small one - the size of a computer for many years), but never wanted to spend a large amount of money for one of the new flat screens.

When this opportunity came up I couldn't pass on it . . . the TV is only a year old and goes for $600 to $800 dollars. He also threw in the glass stand for only $30 bucks!

If you ever want to come watch a movie on it . . . let me know.

By the way . . . today was Regis Philbin's last day on LIVE!, so I had to take a couple of pics to remember him. I can't remember when he wasn't on morning TV.

Josh goes to the edge of the SKY BRIDGE

A sky bridge is being built in Sevierville, TN. It will be the largest in the United States (double the size of the one in the Grand Canyon). It will go out 135 feet, and be 300 feet above the French Broad River. I was the first reporter to get to go to the edge of it in a very small carriage underneath the bridge. Only a few inches of metal kept the owner and I from falling to our deaths. It was so much fun! It should be complete by Spring.

Occupy Knoxville

The Occupy Wall Street protests that started in NYC in September finally made its way to Knoxville on Saturday. There was about 40 protesters downtown. Someone took these photos and posted them on Facebook, so I stole them.

Josh and the baby Elephant

On Friday, I got to do a story at the Shriners' circus in Knoxville. They honored the military (all of them got to come for FREE). It was a perfect day to honor them since President Obama announced that all the troops would be coming home by the end of the year. I did my stand-up by the elephants . . .

Josh in Haiti

Tonight starts a series of 5 reports from my trip in Haiti back in September. It was amazing to get an opportunity to go back to Haiti. It is tough to see the hardships these people face, but it is great how so many people around the world give back to help these people out. Here are a few photos from my trip.

Tourette's Syndrome Documentary

The tables were turned on me today, and I was the one being interviewed. I am going to be featured in a documentary about a Knoxville man named Myles Walker. He has Tourette's Syndrome - a condition which causes a person have uncontrollable outbursts and twitches. I did a story with him at the beginning of the year, and now an entertainment company out of Wilmington, NC is doing a documentary. They will be using my story I did, plus new stuff they shot today. I am also doing a story about their documentary tonight on the 11 news.

Reporting LIVE

I just got back from a LIVE report at UT Medical Center in Knoxville. Just a glimpse in what I do every day. Today I was covering an accident where a mom hit a power pole, and flipped her car. She had her four children with her (all under the age of 6) - with only one booster seat. She is now facing several charges. One child is in critical condition - the rest we are not sure about.

Framing a Memory

On September 10, I completed my second Marine Mud Run in Knoxville. I decided to wear my "I Love New York" shirt I bought near Ground Zero back in April. Since the race was so close to 9/11 and the shirt was kind of special (it had never been worn) - I decided to keep it forever. I bought this frame and added my race number and photo from that morning. I am not sure what I am going to do with it now, but I think it looks pretty cool. I am getting crafty like Ginger. What do you think? Do you think I am crazy for framing it?

Back from the "trip"

I just got back from a week long trip. I am doing some special reports, so I have to keep it under wraps until it airs. I am posting some pics that will not disclose my location. It was a lot of fun, but I am glad to be back home!

Knoxville Marine Mud Run 2011

This morning at 8 AM sharp I ran the Knoxville Marine Mud Run. Its a 5K race with lots of obstacles to get through - including mud pits, logs, tunnels, tires, mines, and running through the river. It is really hard, but a lot of fun. This was my second year to participate.
