Working 7 days straight . . . not highly recommended

Today I am on day 6 . . . I have been lucky in my career not to work on Sundays. Today was an exception because of the holidays - I had too. I was able to go to church before I came, so that was good. I also got to talk in sacrament meeting, which is always a blast. They made me the concluding speaker . . . so I had a nice 15 minute chunk to fill. It turned out well . . . I spoke on gaining faith in Jesus Christ - through the scriptures, modern prophets, being a missionary, and praying. During my talk my work cell phone started ringing, I told the congregation that is probably work . . . I will wait to call them back after I am done - it got some laughs.

Merry Christmas!

Mama sent me some presents for Christmas. Usually I open them before Christmas morning (don't tell her), but this year I waited. Thanks Dad and Mom!

Josh's Triple Date

A week ago, three couples got together for dinner and ginger bread house making. It was a lot of fun!

My finger is falling off

Last night at work, I got bitten by something. It left three needle size holes on one of my fingers on my right hand. It hurt, and swelled a little. This morning the joints on that finger were weird colors - red, purpler and black. Any have this before? Do you think I will survive? I have attached some photos for you to look at. Thanks for any insight to my bug bite dilemma.

My family loves me

I got a can of cranberry sauce from Amber this week -- it made me so happy. Guess what happened today? 2 more packages on my doorstep. Ginger sent me a package filled with stuffing, jello, gravy, and hot cocoa. Mama sent me a package with 2 more cans of cranberry sauce. Thanks so much! I love ya'll! I can't wait till we can have Thanksgiving all together again someday.

Pig's Feet for Christmas

Tonight at Institute we had our Christmas Party. We did white elephant gifts - I wrapped up PICKLED PIGS FEET. Everyone had to try it - even me! It's nasty.

I have the BEST sister!

I told everyone I missed having cranberry sauce in a can for Thanksgiving . . . guess what I had in the mail today? A CAN OF CRANBERRY SAUCE! It made me so happy. Thanks Amber!

Amber wins: Rubber Shark is CORRECT!

I will now have a rubber shark in my bathroom when you visit.

Does anyone remember?

I have a question for the Ault Family. Does anyone remember what Grandmother Ault used to have in a drawer beside the toilet in her bathroom? I used to play with it all the time. I bought one today at the aquarium. Any guesses? I will post a of photo of it, if you can get it right.

Josh's first visit to Gatlinburg, TN

I had today off, so I thought I would head to Gatlinburg (which is about 36 miles from Knoxville). It is a big tourist destination. Their main attraction is the Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. It cost $20 to get in, and its well worth it. They have a tunnel you go in, and sharks are swimming above your head. If you ever come visit, we will have to go.

Working on Thanksgiving

Tonight ends a long week of working. Working on any holiday isn't fun, but it's something I have gotten used to working in TV. I am the new guy at WATE-TV, so I knew I would be put on every holiday they could think of -- goodbye Christmas! It is usually not that bad, things are really slow, and its a lot of sitting around doing nothing. Its 9:52 PM, I get off at 11:30 tonight. I am already done.

Thanksgiving was good. There is another member of the church that works here at the TV station, Phil Marlow (he is one of the editors). He invited me over to his home for Thanksgiving lunch. He also had to be at work at 2:30 on Thursday. He is married, with a young daughter, and one on the way - all originally from Idaho. I only got to eat for 10 minutes, because her brother and family, from Atlanta, were running late, and they had the turkey. I had to leave at 2 - so I wouldn't be late for work. They arrived at 1:30 PM. At least, I got to taste a little turkey and mashed potatoes.

Starting this week, I have to work every Saturday. Its not that bad, my new weekend is Sunday and Monday. We had a reporter leave, so I have to cover her shift until we get a replacement.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. It will be great when we can get all 7 kids home at the same time for Thanksgiving. One day . . . I am still craving canned cranberry sauce.

Same Tie

Harrison and I had the same style. We both had the same tie! Great minds think and shop alike.

You want more? OK . . . here some more photos of Harrison and Hunter's visit to Knoxville

Harrison and Hunter visit Knoxville

This weekend, Harrison and Hunter Youngblood, my 2 nephews, came and spent the weekend with me. We went to the Knoxville Zoo, saw the movie Blindside, and went to Stake Conference. They also got a tour of the WATE-TV studios. Here are some photos from the trip:

Hootie and Josh

Tonight I got to interview Darius Rucker or "Hootie". He was visiting a local radio station in Knoxville. He first became famous when his band Hootie and the Blowfish had some hits in the 90s. He now is a country artist, and just won the CMA award for Best New Artist. I am really not a fan, but you still have to take a photo. Here is a link to his web site: http://www.dariusrucker.com/

Josh is officially from Tennessee now

It's official . . . I am a Tennesean. I got my drivers license and license plate last week. Yesterday, I even bought a University of Tennessee license plate for the front of my car. I just put it on.

Josh is the newest employee at WATE-TV

Today was my first day at WATE-TV, in Knoxville. I did a lot of paper work. Nothing too exciting. A big murder trial was going on today, and the verdict was reached, so that took up a lot of the day. I hope good things are in store!
